About AHU Coil Coating
The air handling unit (AHU) plays an integral part in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVAC). It is imperative for the AHU to operate at peak efficiency to ensure optimal temperature, humidity, and air quality control.
AHU Coil Coating is an eco-friendly coating applied to cooling coils to enhance their efficiency and operational lifespan.
How it works
The Science Behind AHU Coil Coating
The Composition
AHU Coil Coating consists of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocrystals dispersed in water, forming a durable and adhesive film that attaches firmly through Van der Waals forces on the cooling coil surface for improved coil performance and lasting protection.
The self-cleaning, anti-microbial TiO2 photocatalyst coating inhibits the formation of mould and bacteria due to its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-odour properties.
This improves the air quality by reducing the likelihood of dust, particles, malodour, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde—a highly toxic and carcinogenic agent circulating in the airstream.
It also eliminates the strong, woody smell from newly installed furniture, such as wardrobes and cabinets, which can cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritation, thereby protecting one’s health.
Our technology has been proven effective in eliminating and removing such compounds by using test meters to prove readings before and after application.
In addition to providing a consistent and long-lasting deodorising effect, SC Coating has also been proven to prolong the operational lifespan of cooling coils by inhibiting microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC) due to biofouling.
Laboratory tests have shown that the TiO2 nanoparticle coating has no significant effect on the heat transfer efficiency of AHU cooling coils and complies with the “Singapore Consultant Technical Specifications”. Our AHU Coil Coating can be applied to any AHU cooling coils using our proprietary electrostatic spraying technology.
